As an English teacher, words easily flow from mind through pen to paper. Adjectives and other descriptive terms are often the ones that pour out with little thought attached. Poe, a literary failure in life but a celebrated writer now, used long, descriptive sentences, such as the opening line from “The Fall of the House of Usher” ("During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hung oppressively low in the heavens, I had been passing alone, on horseback, through a singularly dreary tract of country, and at length found myself, as the shades of the evening drew on, within view of the melancholy To answer that question, I will quote from a professor who once told then-student Edward R. Murrow, “The right now alone is better than any that has to be propped up by adjectives.”

With that in mind, let me simply state this word: Paul McCartney.

Homage was made to fallen compatriots John Lennon (“Here Today” and “Give Peace a Chance”) and George Harrison, in which McCartney sang “Something” while playing a ukulele given him by the late Beatles’ lead guitarist. No mention was made of Ringo Starr, who recently denied a deal is in the works to reunite the two surviving Beatles for the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics.
